COUNTY OF DONNERSBERG

“In the Palatinate at the top” is the Donnersberg – an impressive mountain range with volcanic origin on which the Celts once built one of their largest settlements. Today, the mild climate allows fruit trees to flourish on its foothills and numerous villages nestle in the picturesque landscape.

In the Alsenz valley in the west of the district there are numerous towns on the traffic axis between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach. Thanks to the excellent transport links via the A63 and A6, the metropolitan regions Rhine-Neckar and Rhine-Main as well as the regional center of Kaiserslautern can be reached quickly.

The largest cities Eisenberg, Kirchheimbolanden, Rockenhausen, Winnweiler and Göllheim are also the most important business locations in the district. Companies from the metal and mechanical engineering as well as the automotive sector have settled here.

In the locations around Alsenz and in the Zellertal, viticulture ensures a good income. Due to the scenic beauty of the region, tourism is also one of the sources of income. The community of Eisenberg is located on the edge of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, which also makes it interesting as a place of residence for employees of BASF and others. But there are also some interesting employers in Eisenberg. The popular destination is the Eiswoog near Ramsen.

The community of associations formed in early 2020 through a merger is characterized by the landscape of the Alsenz and Moschel valleys. Fruit and wine are grown here. Bad Kreuznach in the Nahetal can be reached quickly from the municipality in the far north of the West Palatinate.

Kirchheimbolanden association

The community of Kirchheimbolanden extends from the eastern slopes of the Donnersberg to the Rhine-Hesse border. The economic and cultural center is the former residential town of Kirchheimbolanden. The Rhein-Main area can be quickly reached from here via the A63.
