CIRCULAR HIKING TRAIL KARLSTAL GORGE

The Karlstal nature reserve in Trippstadt, with its impressive gorge and diverse fern and moss species, is probably one of the best-known West Palatinate landmarks.

The circular hiking trail starts in the center of Trippstadt and first leads to the baroque Trippstadt Castle. Passing Wilenstein Castle, you first reach a small swan pond before the trail approaches the entrance to the gorge. The route, now surrounded by boulders, leads over many small bridges through the dreamlike Karlstal gorge. At Oberhammer the Karlstal ends and the trail leads along the edge of the forest, through beech woods and past the Sägmühlweiher back to the starting point in Trippstadt.
