FRESH FROM NATURE
The extensive forests of the region have always served the West Palatinate as a source of food. In addition to venison, deer and wild boar game, it offers a natural home to a variety of mushrooms and other vegetarian delicacies.
The “Keschde” is also an integral part of the Palatinate autumn. Those who know the right places can fill their pockets and eat the delicious sweet chestnuts as they please and roast them. Thanks to numerous waters created for fishing, the so-called “Wooge”, freshwater fish such as trout are also on the menu in the West Palatinate.
Venison
Fresh meat from the neighborhood - thanks to the Palatinate Forest, many local restaurateurs offer delicious game dishes.
Mushrooms
In autumn, many delicious mushrooms such as butter boletus and porcini mushrooms can be collected in our forests.
Trout
Our wooges offer space for some trout farms and sometimes even invite you to go fishing.
Chestnuts
Many West Palatinates have been doing it since early childhood: when the first chestnuts fall, collecting begins in the Palatinate Forest.
