ABOUT THE MINT REGION

We are committed to strengthening and networking STEM education in the West Palatinate region. Our goal is to get children and young people excited about STEM topics and to promote their competencies.

Federal funding for better STEM education

A good STEM education is the basis for excellent career prospects and is increasingly becoming a prerequisite for participation in society. Current topics such as climate change, energy supply and digitalization are closely linked to STEM. The partners of the MINT Region Western Palatinate want to motivate children and young people to engage with, discover and explore technical and scientific issues.
Thanks to project funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the “MINT-Bildung für Jugendliche” (STEM Education for Young People) program, the ZukunftsRegion Westpfalz and its network partners have the opportunity, initially until mid-2025, to noticeably advance STEM education in the Westpfalz region and to create networking structures for the diverse STEM actors. The focus is on extracurricular activities for children and young people between the ages of 10 and 16.
The goal is to make the offerings of the various network partners more visible and accessible and to coordinate them with one another. New cooperations are to create the prerequisite for complementary offers and in this way to anchor STEM education more firmly in the leisure sector. As part of the project, several “MINT experience places” are to become contact points that offer a relaxed learning environment that promotes creativity and offers opportunities for working and experimenting.

Our Network

In the West Palatinate region, numerous actors are already committed to STEM education for children and young people. Our goal is to create an active network to promote exchange and cooperation. To this end, we would like to bring together representatives from science, companies, schools and other organizations and institutions.

You would like to become part of our network or are looking for cooperation partners for your MINT project?
Then get in touch with us! We are happy to help.
