PIRMINIUS CYCLE ROUTE

From the French border to Wilgartswiesen, the Pirminius Cycle Route runs through the area of activity of the name-giving “Pfalz missionary”.
The medium-difficulty cycle path begins in Hornbach and connects with the Hornbach-Fleckenstein cycle route. The monastery located here is the place where St. Pirminius died. From Hornbach to Zweibrücken, the roughly ten-kilometer section first passes the villages of Althornbach, Rimschweiler and Ixheim. In Zweibrücken, a short stop can be made to visit the rose garden, for example. The next section of the route leads parallel to the Schwarzbach river to Thaleischweiler-Fröschen on varied paths. Here Contwig, Dellfeld, Rieschweiler-Mühlbach and Höhmühlbach are reached. The next stage from Thaleischweiler-Fröschen to Pirmasens, which is about ten kilometers long, is somewhat more demanding, with an ascent of 180 meters. After this climb, the trail runs gently undulating via Münchweiler an der Rodalb, Hinterweidenthal, Hauenstein and Spirkelbach to the destination of Wilgartswiesen. Here there is a connection to the Queichtal cycle route.
